OPT-OUT California is a program of Informed Parents Silicon Valley, Inc., a California 501(c)(3) charitable organization (EIN 87-2694564). OPT-OUT California is a dba (doing business as) of Informed Parents Silicon Valley, Inc.

2. Purpose of the Services

OPT-OUT California exists to help California parents and guardians exercise their legal rights to opt their children out of specific school instruction, programs, assessments, and activities in accordance with California Education Code and applicable federal law.

3. OPT-OUT Notice Delivery System

Our OPT-OUT Notice delivery system allows parents and guardians to submit opt-out notices to their child’s school and district. By using this system, you represent that:

You are the parent or legal guardian of the child named in the notice

The information you provide is accurate and complete to the best of your knowledge

You understand that submitting a notice through our system does not guarantee a specific outcome, and schools and districts retain discretion in some circumstances

You authorize OPT-OUT California to transmit the notice on your behalf to the specified school and/or district

OPT-OUT California is not responsible for how schools or districts respond to notices, nor for any outcomes arising from the submission or non-submission of an opt-out notice.

4. Helpline Services

The OPT-OUT California Helpline (669-307-1953) is provided as an informational resource to help parents understand their rights and navigate the opt-out process. Helpline staff and volunteers are not attorneys and do not provide legal advice. Information provided through the helpline is general in nature and may not apply to every situation.

Calls to the helpline may be recorded for quality assurance and training purposes. By calling, you consent to such recording.

5. Use of the Services

You agree to use our Services only for lawful purposes and consistent with the intent of helping California parents exercise their legal parental rights. You agree not to:

Submit false or misleading information in opt-out notices

Use the Services on behalf of someone else without proper authorization

Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Services or systems

Use the Services for any commercial purpose without express written permission

Harass, threaten, or abuse any school, district, or staff member

6. Legal Information Disclaimer

OPT-OUT California provides information about California Education Code sections, federal law, and court decisions including Mahmoud v. Taylor (2025). This information is provided for educational purposes only and is subject to change as laws and court interpretations evolve.

We make every reasonable effort to keep information current and accurate, but we do not warrant that all information is complete or up to date. Always consult a licensed attorney for legal advice specific to your circumstances.

7. Donations

Donations made through our website support the mission of OPT-OUT California and Informed Parents Silicon Valley, Inc. Donations are processed by secure third-party payment processors. All donations are non-refundable unless otherwise required by law.

Informed Parents Silicon Valley, Inc. is a registered 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Donations may be tax-deductible to the extent permitted by applicable law. You will receive a donation acknowledgment for your records.
